Kevon Austin Arrested in Death of Gregory Darnell Troxler

An 18-year-old DC man wanted in connection with the shooting death of Gregory Darnell Troxler was arrested Saturday during a traffic stop, MPD said Saturday evening.

The suspect, Kevon Austin, is suspected of second-degree murder while armed.

Troxler was found shot on Oct. 10 just before 4 p.m. in the 1100 block of 8th Street Northeast.

Arrest in the Homicide in the 1100 Block of 8th Street, NE

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in the fatal shooting which occurred in the 1100 block of 8th Street, NE.

On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at approximately 3:51 pm, units from the Fifth District heard sounds of gunshots coming from the area of the 1100 block of 8th Street, NE. Officers responded and located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived and determined that the victim had no signs consistent with life. The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where he was pronounced dead.

The decedent is identified as 21 year-old Gregory Darnell Troxler of Northeast, Washington, DC

On Friday, October 19, 2012, an arrest warrant was obtained for 18 year-old Kevon Austin of Southeast, Washington, DC, charging him with Murder II while Armed for the shooting death of Gregory Darnell Troxler.

On Saturday, October 20, 2012, at approximately 4:40 pm, Kevon Austin was arrested by officers of the Fifth District during a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Eckington Place, NE.
