UPDATE 3:30 p.m.
MPD has identified the victims as 36-year-old Oluremi Thomas and 24-year-old Keyonna Proctor.

In a listserv message, Councilmember Jim Graham wrote that the deaths of Thomas and Proctor could be drug-related and that “there may also be a suggestion of an execution style killing.” Graham also says that neither victim lived in the apartment.

WJLA reports that a cousin of the male victim found both victims with multiple gunshot wounds in the basement of a rowhouse on Girard Street NW. Neighbors told WJLA that the owners rent the basement to Howard University students.
