A woman fatally stabbed early Friday morning on Georgia Avenue NW has been identified by police as 40 year-old Candance Reed of Northwest DC.

Reed was one of two people injured; a man who was also stabbed has survived.

Michael Poth Murder Trial Begins with Eyewitness Testimony and Video Footage of Stabbing

The murder trial against Michael Poth began Thursday with eyewitness testimony and video footage that place Poth in a deadly encounter with 23-year-old Philip Bushong, who was killed across the street from a Marine Barracks the two both lived in.

Poth, 21, a former Marine, is charged with second-degree murder while armed in connection with the 2012 fatal stabbing death of Bushong, a fellow Marine.

Judge: Probable Cause that Justin Wilson Killed Freddy Hawkins

An MPD detective testified Thursday that no guns or weapons were found at the Valero gas station on Florida Avenue where 28-year-old Freddy Hawkins was shot and killed late last month.

Justin Wilson , a suspect in the case, told police that he shot Hawkins after Hawkins reached for a bulky item in his waistband.

Wilson, one of two men facing charges in the murder, was ordered held after a preliminary hearing Thursday with Judge Herbert Dixon while a grand jury investigates the case.

Stephen Page and James Brewer Plead Guilty to Second-Degree Murder While Armed in Solomon Reese Death

Stephen Page and James Brewer, two of three suspects charged in connection with the 2011 shooting death of 71-year-old Solomon Reese, pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder while armed and related robbery offenses.

Police found Reese June 27, 2011 at approximately 9:30 p.m. in his apartment on the 2300 block of Good Hope Road Southeast suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Prosecutor: ‘G-Rod’ members accused of murder “wanted power” in Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan Neighborhood

Members of a street gang that operated near 14th and Girard streets in Northwest D.C. were “not content to live in the neighborhood they were from,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd Gee told jurors Wednesday in opening arguments, beginning a trial of four co-defendants charged with three murders. Instead, Gee said, they “wanted power.”

Keir Johnson, Lester Williams, Robert Givens and Marcellus Jackson are linked, Gee said, by their allegiance to “G-Rod,” a group of “20 or so members” living near 14th and Girard. Read more

Anthony Williams Ordered Held in Shooting Death of James Edward Booker

Anthony Williams, 16, was ordered held on Wednesday on suspicion of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old James Edward Booker.

On Nov. 5, police officers found Booker conscious at 9:56 p.m in the 500 block of Alabama Avenue Southeast, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:48 p.m.

According to charging documents, video footage shows three individuals surround Booker in front of Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, about a block from where Booker was found. Read more
