Four days later, Green was held without bond on suspicion of first-degree murder while armed, felony murder, and attempted robbery.

Johnson cited the seriousness of the charges and Green’s prior convictions as reasons for holding Green. Assistant U.S. Attorney Adrienne Dedjinou said Tuesday that Green was on supervised release for a drug charge and a robbery charge when Williams was killed.

Metropolitan Police Detective Ray Shields testified Tuesday that a witness told police that they heard two or three gunshots, a pause, one more gunshot, and then moments later saw Green and another man standing over Williams.

The witness has known Green as “Face” or “Little Greg” for more ten years and saw Green's face as he rummaged through Williams’ pockets for what appeared to be money, according to Shields.

The second man told Green, “Let’s go,” but Green responded, “F*ck that,” and continued looking in Williams’ pockets, the witness told Shields.

The men then fled the scene and Green held his waistband as if carrying a firearm, the witness told Shields.

Defense attorney Katerina Semyonova argued that the case relies only one witness’s identification of Green, and that the witness never saw the shooting.

Semyonova added that no weapons have been found in connection with the case.

“It’s certainly not beyond a reasonable doubt yet, but I find probable cause at this point,” said Judge Johnson.

A felony status hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on September 5.
Dana JenningsTue, 22 Apr 2014 15:54:16 -0400http://homicidewatch.org/2014/04/22/probable-cause-found-against-gregory-green-in-the-shooting-death-of-derrick-williams/Derrick Eugene WilliamsGregory Allen GreenGregory Green Held in Connection with Death of Derrick Williamshttp://homicidewatch.org/2014/04/03/gregory-green-held-in-connection-with-death-of-derrick-williams/
Gregory Allen Green, 25, was held without bond Thursday on charges of first-degree murder while armed, felony murder and attempted robbery in connection to the shooting death of Derrick Eugene Williams this past weekend.

Williams, 35, was found last Saturday at approximately 12:23 a.m. lying on the sidewalk of the 1200 block of Eaton Place Southeast, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Green was arrested four days later.

Charging documents say a witness, who has known Green for over ten years as "Face," said that Green was one of two people standing over Williams moments after three gunshots were heard. According to the documents, the witness saw Green pulling the victim's legs and going through the victim's pockets.

The witness told police it observed Green taking what appeared to be money and putting it in his pocket before fleeing the scene. Documents say the witness remembers "Face" running and holding his waist band as if he was carrying a weapon.

Representing Green, attorney Judith Pipe asked the court to release him, noting that "the entire Gerstein relies on one witness."

Judge Karen Howze ruled he will be held based on prior convictions. Prosecutors say Green was released from custody last September after serving time for charges of cocaine possession with attempt to distribute and robbery.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on April 22 before Judge John Ramsey Johnson.

A copy of Gregory Green's arrest documents are below.

 Gregory Green Charging Docs (PDF)

Gregory Green Charging Docs (Text)
Kristian HernandezThu, 03 Apr 2014 23:16:57 -0400http://homicidewatch.org/2014/04/03/gregory-green-held-in-connection-with-death-of-derrick-williams/Derrick Eugene WilliamsGregory Allen GreenGregory Allen Green Arrested in Shooting Death of Derrick Eugene Williamshttp://homicidewatch.org/2014/04/02/gregory-allen-green-arrested-in-shooting-death-of-derrick-eugene-williams/
A 25-year-old Southeast D.C. man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of Derrick Eugene Williams last week.
