Fatal Shooting in Southeast Tuesday Night

Update 2:45 p.m. According to the Washington Post, the victim has been identified as 30-year-old James Pone of Southeast DC.

Metro Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday night at about 9 p.m. in the 700 block of Brandywine Street SE. A male victim was transported from the scene of the shooting to a local hospital where he was declared dead.

Metro PD’s release on the Seventh District listserve follows:

Please be advised that at approximately 9:00 pm, Seventh District units received a call for the sound of gunshots in alley of the 700 block of Brandywine Street SE. Upon arriving at the location, a male victim was found suffering from (a) gunshot wound(s). The victim was transported to a area hospital where he was later pronounced.

There are no suspects as of this writing and the case is currently being investigated by the Violent Crimes Branch.
