Shooting Victim IDed as David Andrew Matthews

A man shot and killed late Friday night in Northwest DC has been identified by police as 32 year-old David Andrew Matthews of Fort Washington, Maryland.

Homicide: Unit Block of Longfellow Street, NW

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the unit block of Longfellow Street, NW.

On Saturday, June 18, 2011, at approximately 12:30 am, units from the Fourth District were flagged down in the unit block of Kennedy Street, NW in reference to sounds of gunshots. They located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the 5600 block of North Capitol St, NW. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and transported the victim to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead. Investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the unit block of Longfellow Street, NW.

The decedent has been identified as 32 year-old David Andrew Matthews of Fort Washington, Maryland.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
