Dupont Circle Homicide Investigation is “Going to Take Some Time,” Says Lanier

MPD Chief Cathy Lanier was on WTOP’s Ask the Chief program yesterday. She spoke about the Sunday morning’s Dupont Circle shooting that killed Jhonte Coleman.

Said Lanier:

There’s still a lot of investigative work going on. We’re making a lot of progress. We don’t have an arrest yet, but there has been progress made.

“This is going to take some time.”

It appears there were multiple fights leading up to the one at the end.

Asked about requiring clubs to add security, she said:

It’s not a matter of resources, it’s a matter of coordinating with the clubs.

We’ve had to close about 6 or 7 clubs a year for 96 hours.
