Maurice Hawkins Held in Death of Barbara Lloyd

A homeless man suspected of killing 56-year-old Baltimore woman, Barbara Lloyd, was ordered held on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed today pending a preliminary hearing.

Maurice Hawkins is due back in court Jan. 12.

According to charging documents in the case, Hawkins was arrested after lab testing determined that Lloyd’s DNA was found on Hawkins’ tennis shoes, t-shirt, backpack and inside the handle of a folding knife he carried.

Lloyd, like Hawkins, was homeless at the time of her death. She was found dead of an apparent stabbing in an alcove of the Old Post Office Pavilion on Aug 8.

According to charging documents, she was stabbed about ten times.
