Week Ahead

Each Friday, Homicide Watch brings you a list of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. To add an item to the listing, email homicidewatchdc [at] gmail.com. To see scheduled court hearings beyond next week, see our calendar.

On Monday, Curtis Patterson and Rickey Pharr are expected to stand trial on first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of Angelo Jones. Judge Thomas Motley is expected to hear the case.

Marlon Williams is expected for trial with Judge William Jackson. Williams is suspected of felony murder while armed in the death Min Soo Kang.

Sanquan Carter, Orlando Carter, Jeffrey Best, Robert Bost, and Lamar Williams are expected to stand trial with Judge Ronna Beck. They are suspected in a series of shootings that left four young people dead and wounded six others.

Also Monday, Jekwan Smith is expected for a status hearing with Judge Robert Morin. Smith is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in connection with the shooting death of Isaiah Sheffield.

On Thursday, Terrence McNeal is expected to be arraigned on a charge of first-degree murder while armed. McNeal was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with a fatal stabbing attack on Charles Hicks. Judge Morin will hold the arraignment.

On Friday, Donald Crosland and Kevin Clark are expected for sentencing with Judge Motley. They each pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, saying that they shot and killed 17-year-old Ricardo Minger in a Southeast D.C. apartment in January 2011.

Tarkyshia Brown is expected for a preliminary hearing Friday with Judge Jackson. She’s suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the shooting death of Jawan Parker.

Robert Carter is expected for a mental observation hearing with Judge Motley. Carter is charged with killing his daughter, Angel Morse.

Judge Morin is expecting Jewell Washington for a status hearing. Washington is suspected of killing her half-brother, Mark Goldring, during an argument.

Judge Motley is expecting Keir Johnson for a status hearing. Johnson is one of five men charged in an 80-count gang indictment. Johnson is charged with the shooting death of Jamal Coates.

Judge Jackson is expecting Marvin Palencia for a status hearing. Palencia is suspected in the shooting death of Jacobo Vazquez. He was arrested in Nov. 2010 and has not yet been indicted.
