Week in Review

In brief:

Sandy Green III died after being shot multiple times in Southeast DC mid-morning Monday. Andre Miles, a nineteen-year-old Southeast DC man, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of first degree murder in connection with the case.

Dwayne Brisbon was killed in an early morning stabbing on Florida Avenue Tuesday.

Also Tuesday, Lamont Davore was killed in a stabbing near Kenilworth Avenue and Quarles Street NE. Police have arrested 33-year-old David Bolden.

A little more than two weeks after his arrest, Keyon Caldwell pled guilty to one charge of voluntary manslaughter while armed in the shooting death of Draynell Paul Henderson.

Dietrich Baker, a 23-year-old Northeast DC man, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the shooting death of James Ray Sherrod on April 28 on Kenilworth Terrace NE. Baker was ordered held pending a preliminary hearing.

Terrell Brent was sentenced to three years in prison for involuntary manslaughter in the accidental shooting death of Lugus Fleming. The two teens were playing Russian Roulette when Brent shot and killed Fleming.

The deaths of two 19-year-old DC men have been determined to be “justified” by MPD and will not be included in this year’s count of homicide victims.  Stephen Horsley and Dalontray Williams were killed in separate incidents two weeks apart in January.

More than seven years after his death, police still have no leads in the fatal shooting of 9-year-old Donte Manning in Columbia Heights.

On Saturday MPD Chief Cathy Lanier was on Morse Street in Trinidad handing out fliers about Melvin Seals’ death four years ago. A $50,000 reward is offered in the case.
