Family: Woman Wounded in February Domestic Shooting has Died

Yolanda Stone

The family of a woman who was shot during a domestic argument says she has died of her injuries.

Yolanda Stone, 30, died just before midnight Sunday, her sister, Desirae Ross said.

Stone was shot and seriously wounded Feb. 15 at her ex-boyfriend’s house in the 3300 block of Alden Pl. Northeast.

Ross said Stone had gone to the house to pick up the couple’s son, who had come home from school sick.

WUSA reported in March that Stone’s ex-boyfriend, Reynard Cook, is a suspect in the case.

MPD has not yet returned a request for comment on the case. MPD Spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said MPD is waiting for a ruling from the Medical Examiner on whether the case is ruled a homicide. She added that MPD is seeking the public’s assistance for information regarding Cook’s whereabouts. A press release, with Cook’s photo, is here.

The couple had three children together, now ages 7, 4, and 2.

These three kids won’t grow up with their mom now,” Ross said.

Funeral arrangements are underway.
