Deadly Night in the District Brings Week’s Homicide Toll to 5

Three separate incidents left three men dead and three others injured across three quadrants of DC Saturday night, making this the deadliest week in the District this year.

The violence began with a double stabbing on Ames Street in Northeast DC at about 9:45 p.m., which left one man dead.

About an hour later, two men were shot in the 1700 block of 7th St. Northwest. One man was killed and police reported that two men were in custody in connection with the shooting.

Then, just after midnight, two more men were shot in the 2300 block of Green St. Southeast. One of those men was pronounced dead at the scene.

The DC firefighter’s union tweeted:

Those deaths bring the one week homicide tally to five. Earlier in the week, nineteen-year-old Crevontai Key was fatally shot in the 5000 block of First Street Northwest and thirty-five-year-old Julius Barnett Ellington was fatally shot on Morton Street Northwest.
