Joseph Peoples Arrested in Connection with Michael Edward Jones Shooting Death

A 21-year-old Northeast DC man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of Michael Edward Jones.

The suspect, Joseph Peoples, is suspected of second-degree murder in the case.

Homicide Arrest: 1700 Block of 7th Street, NW

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in the fatal shooting which occurred in the 1700 block of 7th Street, NW.

On Saturday, July 7, 2012, at approximately 10:38 pm units from the Third District responded for the report of a shooting in the 1700 block of 7th Street, NW. Upon arrival, they located an adult male who was unconscious and unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound. A second adult male victim, suffering from a gunshot wound, was located near 7th Street and Rhode Island Avenue, NW. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and did not find any signs of life for the first victim who was pronounced dead by a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The second victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

The decedent is identified as 30 year-old Michael Edward Jones of Northwest, Washington, DC.

On Wednesday, July 11, 2012, 21 year-old Joseph Peoples of Northeast, DC was arrested by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and charged with Murder Two While Armed in the shooting death of Michael Jones.
