SE DC Shooting Victim Identified as Jason Alexander Murphy

A man killed in Southeast DC early Saturday morning has been identified as Jason Alexander Murphy, 30, of New Carrollton, Maryland.

Police say Murphy was found unconscious behind the 1300 block of Savannah Street by police who were responding to a call for a shooting. Murphy was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Homicide: Rear of the 1300 Block of Savannah Street, Southeast

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the rear of the 1300 block of Savannah Street, Southeast.

On Saturday, August 31, 2013 at approximately 2:29 am, patrol officers from the Seventh District responded to the rear of the 1300 block of Savannah Street, Southeast for the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located an unconscious adult male suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced.

The decedent is identified as 30 year-old Jason Alexander Murphy of New Carrollton, Maryland.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
