Arrest made in East Capitol Street Shooting Deaths of Jamie and Jamahl Jenkins

A 38-year-old man is being held in connection with the shooting deaths of siblings Jamie Jenkins and Jamahl Jenkins.

Kevin Walker, who was initially arrested Sept. 26 in Winston-Salem, N.C., was transported to the MPD Homicide Branch Thursday. He is expected to be presented with two counts of first-degree murder while armed, police said.

Police found the siblings on July 20 at approximately 4:35 a.m. on the 5300 block of East Capitol Street Northeast shot and unconscious. Jamie Jenkins was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Jamahl Jenkins was declared dead on scene.

Arrest Made in Double Homicide: 5300 Block of East Capitol Street, NE

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced that an arrest has been made in the double homicide which occurred in 5300 block of East Capitol Street, Northeast.

On Saturday, July 20, 2013 at approximately 4:35 am, police officers from the Sixth District responded to the 5300 block of East Capitol Street, Northeast, to investigate the report of two people shot. The police officers located two shooting victims, an adult male and an adult female in the 5300 block of East Capitol Street, Northeast. Both shooting victims were unconscious and unresponsive.

DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the adult female victim to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel did not find any signs consistent with life in connection with the adult male shooting victim. The adult male decedent remained on the scene and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia, pending an autopsy.

The female decedent is identified as 28-year-old Jamie Jenkins of Southeast, Washington, DC.

The male decedent is identified as 21-year-old Jamahl Jenkins of Southeast, Washington, DC.

On Thursday, September 26, 2013, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 38-year-old Kevin Walker in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, pursuant to a District of Columbia Superior Court Arrest Warrant.

On Thursday, October 10, 2013, Kevin Walker was transported to the Homicide Branch by members of the Criminal Investigation Division/ Fugitive Squad. Kevin Walker was charged with two counts of First Degree Murder while Armed in connection to the deaths of Jamie Jenkins and Jamahl Jenkins.
