Tuesday Night Shooting Victim Identified as Virgil Wood

A shooting in the 1500 block of V Street, Southeast killed 22-year-old Virgil Wood Tuesday night, according to MPD.

Police officers responding to the sounds of gunshots at approximately 10:35 p.m. found Wood suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Wood was then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide: 1500 Block of V Street, Southeast

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 1500 block of V Street, Southeast.

On Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at approximately 10:35 pm, police officers from the Seventh District responded to a call for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The decedent has been subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.

The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Virgil Wood of Southeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
