Suspect in Stabbing Case Says he was Defending his Mother

The man charged with fatally stabbing Elike Rahmon Richardson in Southeast DC last month has told police that he did so in his mother’s defense.

The suspect, Allen Thomas, was presented with a charge of second-degree murder Thursday. He was ordered held pending a preliminary hearing.

According to charging documents, Thomas told police that he was outside his home with Richardson came by and began cursing at Thomas’ mother. A witness to the event told police Richardson said “I’ll stab you b**ch,” to Thomas’ mother and held a knife at his side.

Thomas said he went into the apartment for a knife, came back outside, and Thomas, his mother, and others began fighting Richardson. Thomas said Richardson bit him on the thumb and Thomas stabbed him.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled in the case for June 27.
