Week Ahead

Each week, Homicide Watch brings you a list of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. To add an item to the listing, email homicidewatchdc@gmail.com. To see scheduled court hearings beyond next week, see our calendar.

On Monday,
Arik Sims is scheduled for a status hearing before Judge Robert Morin, who is expected to set a motions schedule or a sentencing date. Sims was convicted of premeditated first-degree murder while armed and three weapons charges in connection with the shooting death of Lamar Fonville in June.

The trial of DaQuan Tinker is scheduled to begin before Judge Robert Morin. Tinker is charged with first-degree murder while armed, felony murder while armed, two robbery charges and five weapons charges in connection with the shooting death of Terrence Robinson.

On Thursday,
Paul Jefferies is scheduled for a felony status conference before Judge Russell Canan. Jefferies is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the beating death of Awele Olisemeka.

On Friday,
Alexander Gomez-Enamorado is scheduled for a status hearing at 12:00 p.m. before Judge Russell Canan. Gomez-Enamorado was found guilty of first-degree murder while armed, felony murder, conspiracy, robbery, burglary, tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice in connection with the stabbing death of Miguel Ventura.

Daren Vaughn is scheduled for a motion hearing at 10:00 a.m. before Judge John Johnson. In April, the jury reached a partial verdict that found Vaughn innocent premeditated first-degree murder and other assault and burglary charges in connection with the stabbing death of Tyrell Swann. Vaughn will be re-tried for voluntary manslaughter while armed and carrying a dangerous weapon after the jury was unable to reach a verdict on those two charges.

Delrico Shuford is scheduled for a status hearing before Judge Lynn Leibovitz. Shuford pleaded guilty in 2013 to voluntary manslaughter while armed and conspiracy in connection with the shooting death of Tyrell Fogle. Shuford, who testified against his crew members in the 21st and Vietnam murder trial, resides in witness protection and is awaiting sentencing.

Dianna Lalchan is scheduled for a trial readiness hearing before Judge Rhonda Reid Winston. Lalchan is charged with first-degree murder and a weapons charge in connection with the shooting death of her husband, Christopher Lalchan.

Jerome Lewis is scheduled for ascertainment of counsel at 11:30 a.m. before Judge John Johnson. Lewis is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, first-degree cruelty to children, arson, assault and three counts of threats to kidnap or injure a person in connection with the fire death of 4-year-old Samauri Jenkins.

Jimmie Fleming is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Judge Robert Morin. Fleming is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the shooting deaths of Derek Price and Donchell Thomas.

Lillian Alvarado is scheduled for a mental observation hearing at 10:30 a.m. before Judge John Johnson. Alvarado is charged with first-degree murder and cruelty to children in connection with the death of her infant son.

Roger St. John is scheduled for a felony status conference at 10:00 a.m. before Judge John Johnson. St. John is charged with felony murder while armed in connection with the shooting death of Rhett Gelb.
