Ronnie Scharrod Edon Killed in Tuesday Morning D.C. Shooting

A shooting in the 2600 block of Birney Place Southwest killed 19-year-old Ronnie Scharrod Edon early Tuesday morning, according to MPD.

Police officers responding to the sound of gunshots at approximately 1:36 a.m. found Edon suffering from an apparent gunshot wound after their systematic canvas of the area. Edon showed no signs of life at the scene.

Homicide: 2600 Block of Birney Place, Southeast

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 2600 block of Birney Place, Southeast.

On Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at approximately 1:36 am, police officers from the Seventh District responded to a call for the sounds of gunshots in the 2600 block of Wade Road, SE. Following a systematic canvas, they located the victim in the 2600 block of Birney Place, SE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived on the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where an autopsy will be performed to ascertain the cause and manner of death.

The decedent has been identified as 19-year-old Ronnie Scharrod Edon, of Forestville, Maryland.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
