Three defendants pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder charges in the 2011 death of 20-year-old Kevin Blackwell Jr.
Wayne Jackson, 23, Harold Proctor, 20, and Christopher Williams, 21, were indicted by a grand jury on first-degree murder charges in August for what prosecutors said was a killing motivated by revenge.

The 17-year-old suspect in the fatal stabbing of Olijawon Griffin faces additional charges of aggravated assault and robbery in connection with the beating of a second victim, who was taken to a local hospital in stable condition after the brawl early Saturday morning inside the Woodley Park Metro station, according to MPD.
The suspect, who has not yet been identified, has not yet been formally presented with these or the second-degree murder charges that he faces in connection with Griffin’s death. It’s unclear at this point whether the young man will be charged as a juvenile or an adult.

A teen couple was charged Monday with killing cab driver Quadar Muhammad in Northeast D.C. earlier this month. Joshua Terrell Mebane and Linda Lee Bury, both 17, had been dating online for six days before the alleged murder. Maryland prosecutors also charged Mebane with killing a woman who was walking her dog in Mebane’s hometown of Waldorf, Md., in late October.
Olijawon Griffin, 18, was killed in a stabbing at Woodley Park Metro station early Saturday morning. Police say a fight broke out inside the station after Griffin encountered a group that had robbed him earlier. An unnamed suspect is in custody on suspicion of second degree murder.

Judge William Jackson found probable cause Friday to hold Daren Vaughn for trial on murder charges in the September death of Tyrell Swann.
Quindetta Cosby accepted a plea deal Friday from prosecutors in the Sept. 13 stabbing death of Paul Morris. Cosby pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter while armed and also pleaded guilty to felony assault in an unrelated July incident. Cosby said she was intoxicated and did not have a clear memory of stabbing Morris.
Judge Thomas Motley sentenced Chamontae Walker and Corey Yates to decades in prison for their role in a Southeast D.C. homicide in Sept. 2010 that killed Darrel Hendy. Walker was sentenced to 40 years in prison, while Yates received a 24-year sentence.
Police have identified the victim of last night’s fatal stabbing inside Woodley Park Metro station as 18-year-old Olijawon Griffin of Olney, Maryland.
Nine young men were detained after an altercation in the station around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, including a 17-year-old arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder. None of those nine have yet been named.

A double stabbing early Saturday morning inside the Woodley Park Metro station on Connecticut Avenue has left one man dead.
NBC Washington reports that five people are in custody in connection with the stabbing and that a knife was found on the tracks inside the station.

Neither Chamontae Walker nor Corey Yates pulled the trigger of the gun that killed Darrel Hendy on Sept. 10, 2010, but Judge Thomas Motley sentenced both men to decades in prison on Friday for their involvement before, during and after the Southeast D.C. murder.
Walker was sentenced to 40 years in prison for first-degree murder while armed, to be served concurrently with lesser sentences for conspiracy, accessory to murder after the fact, and assault of a police officer.

Quindetta Cosby pleaded guilty Friday to voluntary manslaughter while armed in the Sept. 13 stabbing death of Paul Morris.
As part of the pre-indictment plea deal, Cosby also pled guilty to felony assault in an unrelated incident in July. Attorneys did not agree on a sentencing range as part of the plea. Read more
Daren Vaughn was ordered held Friday after Judge William Jackson found probable cause for the felony murder charge against him. Vaughn is suspected of fatally stabbing Tyrell Swann in September.
Vaughn rejected a deal with prosecutors to plead guilty to second-degree murder, which would carry a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.

On Monday, Johnnie Sweets is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge William Jackson at 9:30 a.m. Sweets is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, kidnapping and tampering in connection with the brutal murder of Latisha Frazier.
Brian Gaither is expected for a jury trial in front of Judge Jackson, Monday. Gaither is charged with first-degree and felony murder, kidnapping, and several other charges for his involvement in the death of Latisha Frazier.
Monday, Terrance McNeal is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Robert Morin. McNeal is suspected of stabbing and killing Charles Hicks in June 2011.
On Tuesday, Joshua Mebane and Linda Bury are expected for a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Thomas Motley. Mebane and Bury are each charged with felony murder while armed in connection with the shooting death of Quadar Muhammad.
