Victim in Heritage Club Shooting Identified as Jhonte Coleman

MPD has identified 34-year-old Jhonte Coleman of Suitland, MD, as the victim in last night’s deadly altercation in Dupont Circle.

In all, three men, including Coleman, were shot, and three others were stabbed. MPD’s statement is below.

Massive Dupont Circle Shooting/Stabbing Kills One Person


Six people were injured in a stabbing and shooting in Dupont Circle early Sunday morning and NBC Washington reports one of them has died.

The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that three adult males were shot and three other people were stabbed in the 1300 block of Connecticut Avenue. The incident reportedly happened at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

WTOP reports that the incident took place near Heritage India restaurant and that no arrests have been made.

A DC Alert at 6 a.m. stated that the 1300 block of Connecticut Avenue NW would be closed from DuPont Circle to N Street “until further notice.”

An ad shared on Twitter showed that a club party was planned at Heritage Lounge Saturday night with “Free Shots for ladies All night” and “Holla at me if you make plays at the table. Bottles on Deck.”

Update: Police told the Washington Post a “fight began inside the Heritage India restaurant and club and spilled out onto the sidewalk where three men were shot and three more were stabbed.”

19th St NE Shooting Victim Identified as Joseph Jerome Mickens

A 22-year-old man killed in a mid-morning shooting Saturday has been identified as Joseph Jerome Mickens of Northeast, DC, MPD said in a press release.

The shooting took place near an alley in the 700 block of 19th St. MPD Commander Andy Solberg said.

Person Killed in Mid-Morning NE DC Shooting; Second Fatal Shooting of the Day

A mid-morning shooting in Northeast DC killed a person Saturday; it was the second fatal shooting of the day.

Fifth District Commander Andy Solberg said in a listserv message that the victim was a 22-year-old man. He wrote:

This morning at about 10:25 am, a 22 year old man was shot and killed near an alley in the 700 block of 19th St., NE, just off Benning Road.
