In Brief:

Metro Police announced the arrest of Raymond Roseboro, who is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of 16-year-old Prince Okorie. Earlier in the week, NBC Washington reported that according to their sources, Okorie may have been suspected of “snitching” in the murder of Neil Godleski, a Catholic University grad student killed Aug. 22 in Petworth. A funeral was to be held for Okorie Saturday.

On Monday Metro Police and local news reported of a possible homicide and a man found hanging in a Southwest D.C. park. Incident logs for the day though have not reported any homicide and Metro Police have not released any more information.

Judge Herbert Dixon on Monday ruled that Kwan Kearney and Jeremy Risper will stand trial for the shooting death of Jamal Wilson, killed Nov. 14 in Truxton Circle.

Ballou High School grad and single mother of three, Tawana Copeland, was found dead in her Southwest D.C. apartment Wednesday. Police said she was the victim of a stabbing.

Also Wednesday, the body of 17-year-old Scott Staten was found in Southwest D.C. by a boy on his way to school. Staten, a group home resident, had been shot, police said.

Metro Police arrested a “W. Legrand” on felony murder charges Wednesday. No word yet on what case the charges are connected to.

Preliminary hearings for Kwan Kearney and Larnell Allen, accused of shooting to death Trinidad teen Joseph Alonzo Sharps Jr., were delayed this week when Allen’s attorney asked for more time to prepare. Judge Herbert Dixon set a new date for the hearing for Jan. 7.

A D.C. Superior Court Judge found probable cause in the case against Marvin Palencia, accused of killing a former co-worker who had had a romantic relationship with Palencia’s wife. Palencia is next due in court Feb. 11, 2011 for a felony status conference.

Probable cause was also found in the case against Jerome Bailey, accused of killing Rico Matthews in a Southeast D.C. drug house Nov. 5. A witness told police that Bailey was upset with Matthew because he thought that Matthews had had a relationship with Bailey’s girlfriend.

A shooting in Anacostia early Saturday morning left one person dead and injured four others. The victim has not been identified.
