Man Shot, Killed on W4 Metro Bus in SE DC Early Thursday

A man was reportedly shot and killed on a Metro bus just after midnight Thursday morning.

Reports WUSA:

Dan Stessel, spokesman for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, says a passenger on the W4 bus to Deanwood was shot several times by two suspects at a bus stop in the 2300 block of Alabama avenue shortly after midnight. Right now it is unclear if the man was shot before or after he exited the bus.

According to Stessel, the bus has been taken to MPD’s crime lab. The bus is equipped with interior and exterior cameras.

Right now police have no description to release on the suspects. Stessel says it is possible they were also riding the bus, but that information has not yet been confirmed

According to one source, the man boarded the bus at Congress Heights. At Alabama Avenue, two or three men threatened him, and told him to step off the bus. He supposedly refused to comply and one of the men shot him.

The approximately 30-year-old man was alive when officials arrived. But when he was taken to MedSTAR, he later lapsed in cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead.

Reports the Washington Post:

Investigators are looking for three suspects, described as black males. Information about what led to the shooting is not yet available, police said.
