MPD’s Statement on Fatal Brookland Nightclub Stabbing

MPD issued the following statement this afternoon about a fatal stabbing that took place early Sunday morning at a Brookland nightclub.

Comments left on Homicide Watch DC’s earlier reports about the death identify the victim as “James” and “Jimmy.”

Homicide 3500 Block of 12th Street, NE

(Washington, DC)- Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the fatal stabbing which occurred in the 3500 block of 12th Street NE.

On Sunday, March 18, 2012, at approximately 2:27 am, officers from the Fifth District responded to the 3500 block of 12th Street, NE for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from a stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

The identification of the decedent is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
