Brandon Terry Pleas Guilty to Heritage India Shooting

Brandon Terry pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder while armed in the fatal shooting of Jhonte Coleman.

Coleman was killed in November 2011 after a party at Heritage India in Dupont Circle. Terry, 29, was arrested in February.

Under the plea agreement, attorneys for both sides recommended Terry serve 22 years for the murder charge and two assault charges. The maximum possible sentence is 60 years total.

Irving Johnson Pleads Innocent in Columbia Heights Triple Shooting

A 23-count indictment has charged Irving Johnson with first-degree murder in a Columbia Heights shooting that left two men dead.

Johnson pleaded innocent to the charges in court on Friday.

Sade Stephens, charged with being an accessory after the fact to the shooting, pleaded innocent also.

Not Guilty” Plea in NW DC Stabbing Case

Davon Holmes pled innocent today to fatally stabbing Marcellus Bailey in August 2011. Holmes, 29, is charged with one count of premeditated first-degree murder while armed.

Bailey, 24, died after being cut in the neck. At a preliminary hearing, MPD Detective Paul Regan said that Bailey was unarmed when he was killed. In his testimony before Judge Thomas Motley, Regan did not give any indication of motive in the case. Regan said two witnesses each described Bailey and Holmes together that night before Holmes struck out in an apparent slap at Bailey’s neck. Neither witness saw anything in Holmes’ hand.

Cydrisse Alvin was ordered held on a charge of second-degree murder while armed today after prosecutors submitted additional information about Alvin’s use of PCP.

No Argument to Probable Cause in Amber Kent Stabbing, but Prosecutors Sent Back to Drawing Board on Cydrisse Alvin’s Detention

A DC woman suspected of fatally stabbing her friend and neighbor had her first appearance in DC Superior Court this afternoon; her attorney did not argue that there was not cause to believe that she committed the crime.

Cydrisse Alvin was arrested Monday at Malcolm X Elementary School in Southeast DC. Prosecutors say that Alvin stabbed her neighbor, Amber Lynette Kent, in front of at least two witnesses at about 9 a.m. that same day. The two women are friends on Facebook.

Links Roundup: Fatal Fight was Fueled by PCP, Two More in Custody After Streetfight

Details are emerging in a fatal stabbing that left 28-year-old Amber Lynette Kent dead Monday morning, and her neighbor in custody on suspicion of murder.

Kent was found stabbed in the 3400 block of 13th Place, Southeast at about 9 a.m. Monday morning. Cydrisse Marcha-Marie Alvin was arrested at about 1:30 that afternoon on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed.

David Shepherd Ordered Held in Shooting Death of Henry Miller

David Shepherd was ordered held today pending a preliminary hearing on a charge that he shot and killed Henry Miller in Southeast DC early Sunday morning.

Charging documents in the case state that uniformed police officers in the neighborhood where Miller was shot observed a white truck drive past them. Soon after a witness told them that a man wearing a red shirt and a red hat and driving a white truck was connected to Miller’s death.
