Keith Littlepage pleaded innocent today to the stabbing death of his girlfriend, Selina Knight, at her Southeast D.C. apartment.

Littlepage, 49, also pleaded innocent to the seven other charges against him, including burglary and kidnapping.

Substantial Probability of Second Degree Murder in Fatal Howard University Homecoming Weekend Shooting

Judge Gerald Fisher today rejected James Sandidge‘s attorney’s claims of self-defense in a fatal shooting that left one man dead near Howard University during the school’s Homecoming Weekend.

Fisher instead found substantial probability in the second-degree murder case and ordered Sandidge held.

Sandidge is suspected in the shooting death of Keenan Jerel Lee on Oct. 22, 2011.

Week Ahead

Each Friday, Homicide Watch brings you a list of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. To add an item to the listing, email homicidewatchdc [at] gmail.com. To see scheduled court hearings beyond next week, see our calendar.

On Monday, Latonya Hall is expected before Judge Motley for a status hearing. Hall pleaded guilty in March to felony murder in connection with the shooting death of Michaeldeon Roy Talley. Talley was killed in Feb. 2010.

Judge Jackson is expected to hold preliminary hearings in the following cases: Felicia Jones and Tarkeyshia Brown.

Jones is suspected of second-degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of Jodie Ward. Brown is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the shooting death of Jawan Parker.

Judge Leibovitz is expecting Donald McCorkle for a preliminary hearing. McCorkle is suspected of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Bruce Parker.

On Thursday, Judge Motley is expecting four of seven co-defendants charged with murder, gang crimes, and other offenses: Lafonte Carlton, Devyn Black, Marcellus Jackson and Keir Johnson.

Sharrod Peppers Pleads Innocent in Death of Rodney Bean

Sharrod Peppers pleaded innocent Friday to five counts related to the shooting death of Rodney Bean on Oct. 30, 2010. Peppers is charged with premeditated first-degree murder while armed in the case, along with several weapons charges.

A trial is set to start June 18, 2012, with a status hearing scheduled for Feb. 22.

Peppers, who appeared shackled and in an orange jail jumpsuit, said nothing during the brief arraignment.

Preliminary Hearings with Judge Jackson Postponed to Monday

Preliminary hearings scheduled with Judge William Jackson for Friday have been postponed to Monday, court records show.

Felicia Jones and Tarkeyshia Brown, each scheduled for preliminary hearings with Judge Jackson Friday, are now scheduled for Monday at 9:30 a.m.

Jones is suspected of second-degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of Jodie Ward. Brown is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the shooting death of Jawan Parker.

Christian Navarrette-Rivas to Concede Probable Cause in Fatal Hit-and-Run Gang Case

A preliminary hearing for Christian Navarrette-Rivas was postponed again today. It is the second postponement for the case.

Dominique Bassil Indicted on Murder 2 in Stabbing Death of Boyfriend, Vance Harris

Dominique Bassil was indicted today on one count of second-degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of Vance Harris on Aug. 13.

Bassil is suspected of killing Harris, her boyfriend, in their Southeast D.C. apartment. Her attorney, Elizabeth Mullins, argued at a preliminary hearing that the fatal stabbing could have been in self-defense. Bassil told police that that night in their apartment Harris attacked her, slapping her until she ran into the kitchen and grabbed a knife.

MPD Issues Sketch of Suspect in NE Gas Station Shooting that Killed Stephon Emanuel Way

MPD has released a composite sketch of a man they say is responsible for shooting two people at a Northeast DC gas station over the weekend, killing one of them. That victim was later identified as 24 year-old Stephon Emmanuel Way of Upper Marlboro, MD.

MPD says the suspect is a:

black male, in his mid 20s, 5’10” to 6’1” tall, 160 pounds, brown eyes, shoulder length dread locks, light mustache and beard, light to medium complexion, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing blue pants, a red shirt, and a red/black coat/jacket. He was armed with a dark colored hand gun and was operating a silver Ford Focus.

Heritage India Allowed to Reopen Next Week After Nov. Fight that Killed Jhonte Coleman
