MPD Statement on Fatal Halloween Shooting in Georgetown

Homicide: 2800 Block of M Street, NW
(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the fatal shooting which occurred in the 2800 block of M Street, NW
On Monday, October 31, 2011 at approximately 10:50 pm, units from the Second District responded to the 2800 block of M Street, NW to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he admitted in grave condition.

Teen Shot in Georgetown on Halloween has Died, Report WJLA, Fox5
A 17-year-old shot in Georgetown on Halloween has died of his injuries, WJLA, NBC Washington and Fox5 report.
The teen, identified as Tyrone Garner, was shot in the 2800 block of M Street NW shortly before 11 p.m. on Halloween. He was one of six people shot that night, but the only one known, at this point, to have died.
The Washington Times reported last week that Garner was a ward of DYRS.

Man Suspected in July Homicide Indicted in MS-13 Case
A man MPD said they arrested in connection with a May homicide has been indicted on federal racketeering and murder charges.
Henry Diaz-Antunuez was one of six men added to the case last week, which, according to a press release from the US Attorney’s Office, alleges that
MS-13 engages in racketeering activity to include murder, narcotics distribution, extortion, robberies, obstruction of justice, and other crimes. The indictment specifically states that some of the defendants allegedly participated in assaults against persons they believed to be rival gang members, made threats against persons they believed to be cooperating with law enforcement, and carried out extortions.

Godleski Family Sues DYRS for Failing to Supervise Murder Suspect, Washington Times Reports
The family of Neil Godleski has filed a $20 million lawsuit against DYRS, the Washington Times reports.
The family of a Catholic University student who was fatally shot while bicycling through Petworth last year has filed a $20 million lawsuit against the District’s Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, accusing the agency of failing to supervise the 16-year-old murder suspect committed to its custody.

In brief:
James Deangelo Sandidge, 22, was arrested on suspicion of murder two while armed in connection with the fatal shooting of Keenan Jerel Lee.
Antonio Jones was ordered held on suspicion of second degree murder while armed after Judge Thomas Motley found substantial probability that Jones killed Davon Gray in a shooting on Oct. 15.
Katrell Henry was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the 2010 Shooting of Laroy Bryant.
Henry Diaz-Antunuez, 19, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of second degree murder while armed in connection with the shooting death of David Eduardo Gonzalez on July 19. Court records do not show that he has been presented with the charge.
Brian Gaither and Johnnie Sweet each pleaded innocent today to first degree and felony murder and kidnapping in the death of Latisha Frazier in Aug. 2010.
