James Brewer Rearrested after Escaping from DC Court

MyFoxDC and NBC Washington report that 24-year-old James Brewer is back in custody after escaping from US Marshals at D.C. Superior Court on Friday.

Brewer is suspected of killing Solomon Reese in Southeast DC on June 27.

MyFoxDC: Murder Suspect Escaped from D.C. Superior Court

MyFoxDC is reporting tonight that James Dean Brewer escaped today from D.C. Superior Court where he was detained by US Marshals pending the presentment of a felony murder charge.

Brewer, 24, was arrested Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of 71 year-old Solomon Reese.

Reports MyFoxDC:

Sources say Brewer went before the judge posing as another man and was then allowed to walk out of D.C. Superior Court. He was waiting to be arraigned when he escaped.

D.C. Police have broadcast an all points bulletin for Brewer, who is believed to be in plain clothes.

The U.S. Marshals Service has also assembled a task force team to help look for Brewer and are offering a $5,000 reward for his capture.

In their report, Brewer, whose nickname is “Sticky,” was described as a black male, 5‘9” and 180 pounds. He wears shoulder length dreadlocks.

James Dean Brewer Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting of Solomon Reese

A 24-year-old Southeast D.C. man was arrested today Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of Solomon Reese last month.

James Dean Brewer is suspected of felony murder while armed, MPD officials said in a press release.

Reese was 71 years old when he was shot and killed June 27 on Good Hope Road, SE.

Michael Walters Sentenced to 45 Years in Prison in 2008 Murder of Michael Henry

Member of Violent Drug Ring Sentenced to 45 Years in Prison For Slaying of Man He Mistakenly Viewed as a Witness- More Than 30 Shots Fired at Victim - - Three Others Were Sentenced Earlier in the Case -

WASHINGTON - Michael Walters, 31, was sentenced today to 45 years in prison for his role in a violent drug conspiracy and his actions as a triggerman in the killing of a man he and others mistakenly thought was a witness, announced U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. and Cathy L. Lanier, Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Walters, of Washington, D.C., was among four defendants convicted by a jury in March 2011 of conspiracy, first degree murder while armed with aggravating circumstances, obstruction of justice, and related firearms offenses. The verdict followed a month-long trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Walters was sentenced by the Honorable Thomas J. Motley.

Terry Jimenez, the first to be arrested in connection with the fatal shooting following DC’s Caribbean Festival, is due in court Monday for a preliminary hearing. He’s suspected in the shooting death of Robert Foster Jr. He’s expected in Judge Jackson’s courtroom (302) at 9:25 a.m.

On Thursday, Christopher Martin is expected to be arraigned on three charges including second-degree murder in Judge Leibovitz’ courtroom (310) at 9:30 a.m. Martin is suspected of killing his mother, Patricia Ann Martin. She was stabbed to death in May 2010.

Takia Neeley Pleads Guilty to Murder of Jason Liser

A 21-year-old Hyattsville woman has pleaded guilty to killing Jason Liser in Northeast D.C. in 2009.

Takia Neeley faces up to 55 years in prison for second degree murder and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.

Terrance Bush Held in Robert Foster Jr. Homicide

A third suspect in a deadly shooting following DC’s Caribbean Festival was presented yesterday with a charge of second degree murder and ordered held pending a preliminary hearing.

Terrance Bush appeared in courtroom c-10 represented by attorney Jeffrey Lewis. On Bush’s behalf, Lewis submitted to the government’s evidence for substantial probability that Bush was involved in the shooting death of Robert Foster Jr.

A preliminary hearing date was set for July 25.

Co-defendants in the case are also scheduled for the end of this month: Terry Jimenez is expected in court for a preliminary hearing on July 18 and Deonte Bryant is expected July 25.

Rickey Pharr Enters “Not Guilty” Plea in Shooting Death of Angelo Jones

In a brief court appearance Wednesday, 27-year-old Rickey Pharr pleaded innocent to charges that he killed 31-year-old Angelo Jones during a craps game in the Clay Terrace neighborhood of D.C. Oct. 2.

Pharr’s attorney entered the plea and Pharr did not speak. At the hearing he was arraigned on the charges including first degree murder, obstruction of justice and three weapons charges.

Government prosecutors said investigators were in the process of determining if there is any biological evidence on materials, including dice, removed from the crime scene. They have not requested a DNA sample from Pharr at this time.

Judge Thomas Motley set a trial date for the case of Nov. 14.

19-year-old NW DC Man Arrested in Connection with 2008 Homicide

MPD tonight announced in the 2008 homicides of 28-year-old Luis Zelaya.

Nelson Javier Fuentes-Portillo, a 19-year-old Northwest DC man, was arrested Monday on suspicion of first degree murder while armed and murder in the aid of racketeering and aiding and abetting.
