The fate of five suspects on trial for events surrounding the death of 13-year-old Alonzo Robinson in the District’s Trinidad neighborhood is now in the hands of a Superior Court jury. Antonio McAllister and twin brothers Joshua and Christian Benton are affiliated with the Kenilworth neighborhood and face first-degree murder and other charges stemming from a series of shootings in Trinidad in 2008. Robinson — in town to visit his ailing great-grandmother — was gunned down during a night of violence July 19, while several others were hurt, including a college student who suffered extensive injuries.
UPDATED: MPD said this evening that the victim of a homicide this morning in Lamond Riggs is Kirk Garnes, of no fixed address.
MPD is investigating a possible homicide in Lamond Riggs this morning.
The victim is a man, approximately 40 years old, Fourth District Captain Frank Hill said in a message on the 4D listserve. The man’s body showed blunt force trauma, Hill said.
At approximately 8 am, MPD received a call that there was a person lying unconscious in the rear of the 200 block of Riggs Road, NE. Fourth District units responded to the location and discovered an adult male, approximately 40 years of age, lying on the ground, deceased. He had obvious blunt force trauma on his upper body. As of this moment this person has not been identified. Homicide Branch detectives are investigating.

Chamontae Walker of Southeast, DC was arrested on suspicion of first degree murder while armed on Friday in the shooting death of Darrel Hendy in September 2010.
Walker’s arrest is the second in the case; an 18-year-old suspect was arrested in October 2010. The status of that case was not immediately available.

WASHINGTON - Alfred Evans, 28, of Washington, D.C., was convicted by a jury today of charges stemming from the April 2003 murder of Reginald Brighthart, a 35-year-old homeless man, U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. announced.

MPD announced today that a 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of homicide in the death of Jinnell McQueen in November.
The teen was not identified because he is being charged as a juvenile. A D.C. Courts representative was not immediately available to say when the teen is expected to be charged.

Keith Littlepage-El, a 49-year-old D.C. resident accused of killing his girlfriend last month, was ordered held in the case today by Superior Court Judge Heidi Pasichow, who detained Littlepage upon the ruling that there is “substantial probability” that he committed the crime.
Littlepage has been detained since March 10 in the case. Investigators believe he killed Selina Knight on March 4, after allegedly twice burglarizing her southeast D.C. apartment and threatening her on multiple occasions.

Two open murder cases against Kwan Kearney will likely be indicted separately, despite overlapping evidence in the cases, a government prosecutor told Judge Thomas Motley Friday morning.
Kearney, along with codefendant Larnell Allen, is suspected in the killing of Joseph Alonzo Sharps Jr on November 8, 2010. He is also suspected in the killing of Jamal Wilson less than a week after Sharps’ death. His codefendant in that case is Jeremy Risper.
All three men appeared before the court at the same time Friday.
