After six days of witness testimony, jurors in the murder trial against Irving Harris Johnson began deliberations Tuesday.
Johnson, 32, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and several assault and firearm charges in connection with the July 2011 shooting deaths of Domonique Barbour and Jimmie Lee Simmons III. Johnson is also charged with destruction of property and assault with intent to kill in connection with a shooting that occurred on June 21, 2011.

Judge Robert Morin found probable cause Friday that James Brown was involved in the Dec. 2012 slaying of 22-year-old Darnell Rivers.
Morin also found probable cause that co-defendant Javon Hale kidnapped Brown’s brother, Tony. And Morin found probable cause that Tony Brown was carrying a pistol outside his home without a license. All three men remain held.
Defense attorneys initially requested that the men’s cases be separated, but prosecutors argued that the cases were so intertwined that they needed to be tried as a group. Read more
Judge Russell Canan ordered 21-year-old Alexander Buckley held Friday in connection with the shooting death of Siobhan Lee in January.
Canan said Buckley was a danger to the community, and set a trial date of Jan. 13, 2014.
According to court documents, Buckley and Lee met on the smartphone application Tagged.

Jurors tasked with weighing the evidence of first-degree murder and robbery charges against Marlon Williams began deliberating Thursday afternoon after hearing closing arguments from prosecutors and Williams’ defense attorney.
Williams is charged with the 2010 shooting death of Minn Soo Kang. Williams faces charges of first-degree murder while armed, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, attempt to commit robbery while armed and possession of a firearm in a home or business.

A murder charge in the case against Kevon Marquis Austin has been dropped by prosecutors, allowing for Austin’s release and closing the case against him.
Austin was suspected in the Oct. 2012 shooting death of Gregory Darnell Troxler.

Jurors heard opening statements Wednesday afternoon in the murder trial against Brandon Andrews.
Andrews, 30, is charged with first-degree premeditated murder while armed, assault with intent to kill, and several threat and firearm charges in connection with the Aug. 2011 shooting death of 43-year-old Leonard Alphonso Bigelow.
Prosecutors believe Andrews was upset that Bigelow’s sister had ended their ten-month long relationship, and that the sister’s unwillingness to speak to Andrews pushed him over the edge. Andrews’ defense attorney argued Andrews was defending himself against a knife-wielding Bigelow.
