Demonta Michael Chappell, 21, appeared in court Saturday, where Judge Neal Kravitz ordered him held on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed in the Oct. 2012 shooting death of Stevann Moorer.
Moorer was found dead Oct. 27, 2012 at 9:08 p.m. at the 500 block of Parkland Place Southeast.
Chappell is scheduled to return to court March 1 at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Herbert Dixon for a preliminary hearing.

Dwayne Hilton appeared in court today where Judge Karen Howze ordered him held in connection with the November 2011 shooting death of 18-year-old Mico Briscoe.
According to charging documents, detectives used surveillance video, CCTV cameras, and jailhouse calls to conclude that Hilton, also known as Wayne-Wayne, was involved in the murder.

Telling jurors that there would be no eyewitnesses to this homicide, prosecutors opened the murder case against Marlon Williams Tuesday morning, asking jurors to instead listen for evidence about ballistics and fingerprints.
Williams is accused of first-degree murder in the 2010 death of Minn Soo Kang. Kang was found fatally shot at 4:07 a.m. Sept. 13, 2010 on the sidewalk at the 3500 block of Croffut Place Southeast.

A shooting in Southeast DC Sunday evening killed 19-year-old James Edward Dean, MPD said Monday evening.
According to a press release from the department, Dean was found in the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace, Southeast with apparent gunshot wounds at about 5:18 p.m. He was pronounced dead later that evening.

A 21-year-old Northeast DC man was arrested Monday in connection with the Nov. 2011 shooting death of Mico Brisco, MPD said.
The suspect was identified as Dwayne Hilton; MPD said he was suspected of first-degree murder while armed in connection with Briscoe’s death.
Brisco was killed Nov. 26, 2011 in a shooting in the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road, Northeast. A second person was injured in that shooting.

On Thursday Judge William Jackson found probable cause on the lesser charge of second-degree murder while armed in the case against Burnis Cole, suspected of fatal stabbing of 40-year-old Raasheem Jamal Rich. Prosecutors had sought a charge of first-degree murder.
