Each Friday, Homicide Watch brings you alist of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. To add an item to the listing, email homicidewatchdc [at] gmail.com. To see scheduled court hearings beyond next week, see our calendar.

On Monday, Joshua Mebane is scheduled for a felony status conference with Judge Thomas Motley at 9:30 a.m. Mebane is charged with felony murder while armed in connection with the shooting death of cab driver Quadar Muhammad.

Linda Bury is expected for a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Motley at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Bury is also charged with felony murder while armed in connection with the death of Quadar Muhammad.

Steven Williams is expected for a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Robert Morin at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Williams is charged with second-degree murder while armed in connection with the murder of Grace Deli owner, Hae Soon Lim.

On Tuesday, Marc Tapp is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Russell Canan at 9:30 a.m. Tapp is suspected of shooting and killing 19-year-old Jermaine Anderson in May 2011. A trial is scheduled for February 2013.

Wednesday, Alexander Gomez-Enamorado is scheduled for a felony status conference with Judge Canan at 9:30 a.m. Gomez-Enamorado is suspected of fatally stabbing Miguel Angel Ventura in November 2010.

James Fields is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Ronna Beck on Wednesday. Fields is charged with premeditated first-degree murder while armed, assault with intent to kill, aggravated assault while armed, and several weapons offenses in connection with the 2011 shooting death of Christopher Freeman. Trial is scheduled for January 2013.

Phillip Swan, Terrell Wilson and Theodore Spencer are expected for sentencing in front of Judge Motley at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The men were found guilty of murder, conspiracy, burglary and kidnapping in connection with the 2011 slaying of 62-year-old Glenn Scarborough.

On Friday, Cydrisse Alvin is scheduled for a felony status conference with Judge Beck at 10:30 a.m. Alvin is suspected of second-degree murder while armed in connection with the stabbing death of her neighbor, Amber Kent.

Kevon Austin is scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Judge Beck at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Austin is suspected of shooting and killing Gregory Troxler this past October. Austin had been wearing a GPS ankle bracelet for unrelated crimes at the time of Troxler’s death, but less than an hour before the shooting the bracelet stopped emitting a signal.

Joseph Chandler Ordered Held in Murder of Shirley Renee Tucker

Joseph Chandler, suspected of fatally shooting his girlfriend, Shirley Renee Tucker, appeared in court Thursday and was ordered held without bond.

Chandler had been receiving treatment at MedStar Washington Hospital Center after complaining of chest pains. Chandler’s hospitalization prevented him from appearing in court earlier in the week.

He was arrested a few hours after the Dec. 6 shooting. According to charging documents, prosecutors say Chandler confessed to the crime.

He’s scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 20 at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Thomas Motley.

Jonathan Fullard Sentencing Delayed for Mental Competency Evaluation

Judge William Jackson ordered a competency evaluation Monday for Jonathan Fullard, who has pled guilty to the murder of 20-month-old Keyontae Osbia Moore, delaying sentencing in the case for at least one month.

According to a pre-sentencing report referenced in court, Fullard has claimed that he hears voices, and Judge Jackson ordered a “24-hour” screening to determine that Fullard is competent to waive an insanity defense and to participate in sentencing. The exam was agreed upon by Fullard’s defense attorney and prosecutors. Read more

MPD Confirms Metro Shooting Suspect Javon Foster Died in Apparent Suicide

MPD has confirmed that a man wanted in connection with a Metro bus shooting that killed 20-year-old Selina Brown on Sunday is dead.

In a press release Tuesday night, MPD said the man, 27-year-old Javon Foster, died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. MPD said he was identified by fingerprints.

Dennis Washington Held in Beating Death of Thomas Lipscomb

Dennis Washington was ordered held today after Judge William Jackson found probable cause in the case against him. Washington is accused of beating Thomas Lipscomb to death in April 2011.

At the preliminary hearing Tuesday, defense attorney Jenifer Wicks argued that there was no clear determination of when Washington assaulted Lipscomb nor if the assault was related to his death. She further argued that the witness statements made by Christopher Fletcher were “self-serving.”

Joseph Chandler Admitted to Killing Shirley Tucker, Police Allege

Charging documents against Joseph Chandler say that Chandler spontaneously admitted to shooting and killing 63-year-old Shirley Tucker last week.

Chandler, 73, is currently hospitalized at MedStar Washington Hospital Center after having complained of chest pains. Chandler was arrested a few hours after the shooting Dec. 6, but he has yet to be presented before the judge.

Reports: Metrobus Shooting Suspect Commits Suicide

Javon Steven Foster, accused of killing 20-year-old Selina Brown as she boarded a Metrobus Sunday evening, has committed suicide in Long Island, N.Y., NBC Washington reports.

Javon Steven Foster Wanted in Metrobus Shooting of Selina Brown

The 20-year-old woman shot to death aboard a Metrobus on Minnesota Avenue Southeast last night has been identified as Selina Brown, of Northeast D.C., according to MPD.

Javon Steven Foster is wanted for Second-Degree Murder in the shooting death of Selina Brown.

Police are searching for Javon Steven Foster, 27, who is wanted for second-degree murder in Brown’s death.

MPD described Foster as a 27-year-old black man, five-foot-eight, 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous, MPD said, urging anyone who sees Foster to call police immediately.

Brown’s daughter, a toddler, was also injured in the shooting and was taken to Children’s National Medical Center and is expected to recover, according to the Washington Times.

MPD Continues to Search for Suspect in Sunday Metro Bus Shooting

Update: MPD identified the victim as Selina Brown.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect in last night’s fatal shooting aboard a B2 Metro bus, WTOP reports.

The shooting, which took place around 6 p.m., killed a woman in her 20s and injured her young child. MPD has not yet released the woman’s name.

NBC Washington reported that police are describing the homicide as a targeted act of domestic violence.
