The seven men convicted of the brutal 1984 H Street murder of Catherine Fuller were in court Monday, the first day of a hearing on new evidence which they hope may set them free.

Gary Dederichs, a 66-year-old nurse visiting from Denver, Colo., was found unconscious in a Petworth alley Tuesday and was pronounced dead a few hours later. Police believe he is part of a string of bludgeoning attacks in that neighborhood, in which four others have been injured. Michael Davis, 19, has been arrested on suspicion in two of those attacks and charged with assault with intent to kill.

Meeko Carraway was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in the shooting death of 29-year-old Darrel Hendy.

Albrecht Muth has been ruled incompetent to stand trial, but a mental health report leaves open the possibility that he could be ready to stand trial in October. Muth is accused of killing his wife, 91-year-old Viola Drath.

A judge found substantial probability that Raymond Faunteroy, 26, killed 19-year-old Derrick Ragland in December 2011. Police believe Faunteroy shot Ragland as revenge for robbing him days earlier.

The South Capitol trial has gone to the jury. Five men are accused in the mass shooting that left five others—all under age 20—dead in March 2010.

Rickey Pharr was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the shooting death ofAngelo Jones in Clay Terrace in 2010.

Michael Davis Charging Documents Begin to Make Out Murder Case, 4 Assaults

A Denver man found dead in Petworth Tuesday evening may have been killed by a strike from a claw-tooth hammer, the same type of weapon that police believe was used in at least two other attacks in the same neighborhood this week and the same type of weapon found in the backpack of DC teen Michael Davis at the time of his arrest.

That’s according to court documents presented to Davis today at DC Superior Court. Davis, 19, is suspected of two counts of assault with intent to kill.

While he has not been charged with murder, documents in those two cases provide a glimpse into the evidence collected so far in connection to Gary Dederichs’ death.
