Lawrence Davis Sentenced to 45 Years for Stabbing Death of Elizabeth Singleton

Lawrence Davis was sentenced this morning to 45 years in prison for the stabbing death of his wife, Elizabeth Singleton almost 13 years ago.

Davis says he is innocent and his attorney said Friday that Davis intends to appeal the court’s first-degree murder while armed conviction.

Marvin Palencia Pleads Innocent in Shooting Death of Former Co-Worker

Marvin Palencia pleaded innocent this morning to fatally shooting his former co-worker who had been romantically involved with Palencia’s wife.

Palencia is charged with premeditated first-degree murder while armed, evidence tampering, and weapons charges.

On Wednesday, Sharrod Peppers is expected for a status hearing with Judge Ronna Beck. Peppers is charged with first-degree murder while armed in the shooting death of Rodney Bean. A jury trial is scheduled for June 18.

On Thursday, Anthony Speight is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Ann Keary. Speight is suspected of felony murder in the shooting death of Bill Mitchell in January 2011.

James Fields is scheduled for a felony status conference Thursday with Judge Beck. Fields is suspected of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Christopher Freeman in Southeast DC in August 2011.

On Friday, Christopher Williams is scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Judge Beck at 11 a.m. Williams is suspected of felony murder in the fatal robbery of Kevin Blackwell Jr. Derrell Bennett and Reginald Vance are scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Beck on Friday. Bennett and Vance both pleaded innocent to charges of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Keith Banks in November 2010.

Eugene Kelly is expected for a status hearing with Judge Motley on Friday at 10:15 a.m. Kelly pleaded innocent to six charges, including first-degree murder, in the May 2011 shooting death of Isaiah Daniel Harris.

Karl Pugh is expected for a felony status conference with Judge Motley on Friday. Pugh is suspected of second-degree murder while armed in the September 2011 shooting death of Lester Wright is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Beck at 10:30 a.m. Wright pleaded innocent to first-degree murder while armed in the August shooting death of Howard Williams.

Phillip Crooms is scheduled for a felony status conference with Judge Beck Friday. Crooms is suspected of felony murder in the death of Joseph Spinks a bottle of rubbing alcohol to light Butler’s car on fire after Butler was shot.

Stephen Barnes is scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Judge Motley. Barnes is suspected of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Stephon Way at a Benning Road NE gas station on Dec. 10.

Saratoga Ave. Shooting Victim ID’ed as Lewis Dixon

MPD on Thursday identified the man shot and killed on Saratoga Ave Northeast Wednesday evening as Lewis Dixon.

A reward poster was issued for the case Thursday.

Terrance McNeal Pleads Innocent in Death of Charles Hicks

Terrance McNeal entered a “not guilty” plea today at his arraignment on a charge of first-degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of Charles Hicks.

Prosecutors say McNeal fatally stabbed Hicks June 19 during an argument in Southeast DC.

A status hearing is scheduled for May 11 and a jury trial is set for Sept. 24. The trial is expected to last one week.

Suspect in Dupont Circle Melee Told Police he Came to Aid of Friends

A 29-year-old Maryland man who was arrested this week on suspicion of fatally shooting Jhonte Coleman during a large fight in Dupont Circle told police that he became involved in the melee when he saw his friends being jumped.

Brandon Terry is suspected of second-degree murder while armed in the case; a preliminary hearing is scheduled for the end of the month.

Meeko Carraway Pleads Guilty, Two Remaining Co-defendants to Stand Trial Next Week

Just 12 days before he was set to stand trial on suspicion of first-degree murder while armed, Meeko Carraway accepted a plea deal that could lock him away for more than 25 years.

Carraway, 19, pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder while armed in connection with the shooting death of Darrel Hendy.

20-Year-Old Homicide Case Solved with Witness Pleas

A 20-year-old homicide case has been closed after two witnesses to the shooting death of Chet Hunter Matthews agreed to share details of the killing with police.

Matthews was 27-years-old when he was found fatally shot in Haines Point in May 1992.

On Monday Lamont Terry was presented with a charge of felony first-degree murder while armed in connection with the case.
