Montez Warren Arrested in the Death of Ervin Lamont Griffin

MPD today arrested Montez Warren, 30, in the shooting death of Ervin Lamont Griffin on May 13.

Warren, a resident of northeast Washington, DC, is being held on suspicion of first degree murder while armed. A statement from MPD is below the jump.

Monday, Kwan Kearney is due in court for a status hearing in front of Judge Thomas Motley. Kearney is suspected of felony murder while armed in the deaths of Joseph Alonzo Sharps Jr. and Jamal Demetrius Wilson. Sharps died Nov. 8, 2010, after being shot on Holbrook Street, NE. Wilson was killed less than a week later, on Nov. 14, by a gunshot wound through the heart. Kearney’s trial in the Sharps case was slated to begin Monday but was postponed until Nov. 14 after his brother, Eric Kearney — a key witness in the defense’s case — was shot and killed Oct. 17.

On Tuesday, Antonio Jones is expected for a preliminary hearing at 9:25 a.m. with Judge Motley. Jones is suspected of second-degree murder while armed in the shooting death of Davon Gray on Oct. 15.

This story really hurts me to my heart. I taught her two oldest girls for two years. I’ve seen them come to school late, sometimes hungry. I’ve braided their hair. I saw sadness in their mother’s eyes, pleading for help as she pushed her son in a stroller. She really tried to do whatever she could for those children, to protect them at all costs… but who could protect her?

For “Depraved Heart” Killing of Daughter, Rodney McIntyre Sentenced to 40 Years

Disgusting. Cruel. Heinous. Heartless. Horrible. Unspeakable. Atrocious. Indescribable. The product of a depraved heart.”

Judge Lynn Leibovitz spared few words today when describing Rodney McIntyre‘s sexual assault on and murder of his teenage daughter, Ebony Franklin, in Columbia Heights last November.

It is hard to put into words Mr. McIntyre’s degree of culpability,” she said, before sentencing him to 40 years in prison. Read more

Man Shot, Killed in NE DC Wednesday Afternoon


A man was killed Wednesday afternoon after being shot in Northeast DC, the Washington Post reports.

MPD identified the victim as Andre Wiggins, a 19-year-old Northeast DC man.

He had been shot multiple times, said MPD authorities.

Vincent Gray and Delron Atchison Arrested in Metro Bus Shooting

MPD has confirmed that the two men arrested in Orlando today are 21-year-old Vincent Gray of Southeast, DC, and 22-year-old Delron Atchison of Northeast, DC. Both are suspected in the death of Demetrius Emmanuel Thompson on the W4 Metro bus on Oct. 20.

Two Suspects in Metro Bus Shooting in Custody in Orlando, Report Fox5, NBC Washington

Fox5 reports that two men, ages 21 and 23, have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting death of Demetrius Thompson on a Metro bus earlier this month.

NBC Washington tweeted this afternoon that they have confirmed the news as well.

Update: This afternoon NBC Washington reported that the suspects are Vincent Gray, 21, and Delron Atchison, 22. They were arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed, NBC Washington reported.

FOX 5 News has confirmed that D.C. Police detectives have two suspects in custody in Florida who are connected in a murder aboard a Metrobus last week.
