A man found stabbed on North Capitol Street NW last night died of his injuries and police are searching for a suspect described as a black male, 5‘7 tall, with a medium complexion and a beard.
The victim in the case has not been identified by police.

A psychologist who examined Petworth teen Michael Davis in advance of his preliminary hearing on charges that he struck at least three people with a hammer, killing one of them, described the teen as alert, pleasant, and cooperative, but noted that he showed cognitive deficits and would require intense therapy in order to be able to proceed with his case.
The psychologist’s report was made public Friday after Judge Robert Morin ruled earlier in the week that the document must be unsealed.

Alex Carter, a 31-year-old Northeast DC man, was arrested today on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed in connection with the death of Leroy Studevant.
Studevant was found dead in Marvin Gaye Park on New Years Eve, the victim of an apparent strangulation. He is considered the first homicide victim of 2012.

On Monday, Marlon Williams is expected for a jury trial on a charge of felony murder while armed. He’s suspected in the shooting death of Min Soo Kang. Judge Ann O’Reagan Keary will preside.
On Wednesday, Judge Thomas Motley is expecting David Bolden, Dietrich Baker, and Stephen Barnes.
Bolden is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on a charge of first-degree murder while armed. He’s suspected in the stabbing death of Lamont Antonio Devore.
Baker is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on a charge of second-degree murder. He’s suspected in the shooting death of James Ray Sherrod.
Barnes is scheduled for sentencing on a charge of second-degree murder while armed. He pled guilty in March to fatally shooting Stephon Emmanuel Way.
Thursday, Judge Ronna Beck is expecting Christopher Williams for a preliminary hearing on a charge of felony murder. Williams is suspected in the stabbing death of Kevin Blackwell Jr.
Friday, Judge Jackson is expecting Andre Miles, Cinthya Proctor, and Laurence Hassan.
Miles is expected for a preliminary hearing on a charge of first-degree murder. He’s suspected in the shooting death of Sandy Greene III.
Proctor and Hassan are scheduled for sentencing in the death of Latisha Frazier. They’ve each pled guilty to second-degree murder.
Judge Beck is expecting Andrew Williams, Phillip Crooms, and Stephanie Lawson.
Williams is scheduled for a status hearing on a charge of felony murder. He’s suspected in the shooting death of Junon Tyree Snead.
Crooms is expected for sentencing on charges of obstruction of justice, robbery and “malicious burning.” The crimes are connected to the death of Delonte Butler.
Lawson is expected for a pretrial show cause hearing on a charge of second-degree murder. She’s suspected in the stabbing death of Karen Jordan.
Judge Morin is expecting Rashad Slye and Jewell Washington for status hearings.
Slye is suspected of first-degree murder in the shooting of Domingo Ezirike.
Washington is suspected of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Mark Anthony Goldring.
Judge Thomas Motley is expecting Anthony Hatton, Jekwan Smith, Johnnie Harris, Kevin Charles and Stanley Moghalu for a status hearing. They are named in a 21-count indictment connected to the murders of Tyrell Fogle, Isaiah Sheffield, and Steven Moore.
Vincent Gray and Delron Atchison are also expected by Motley. They’re scheduled for arraignments, each on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Demetrius Emmanuel Thompson.
Curtis Patterson is scheduled for sentencing with Judge Motley at 11 a.m. He pled guilty to obstruction of justice and a weapons charge in connection with the shooting death of Angelo Jones.
Eugene Kelly is expected for a status hearing with Motley. Kelly is suspected of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Isaiah Daniel Harris.

MPD has released a video of two suspects in the shooting death of Raj Patel at his Brookland shop, Newton Avenue FoodMart.
Patel, 46, was killed in December 2010. The shooting was believed to have been part of a robbery. Patel’s wife and son were also in the store at the time of the shooting.
In Dec. 2010 MPD released still photos of two people believed to be connected to the shooting. The video released today appears to be the source of those previous photos.
Today, as he waited for his hearing on a charge of second-degree murder, Marine Michael Poth was served with discharge papers; the U.S. Marine Corps saying that he had behaved less than honorably.
Just hours later, clad in an orange jumpsuit, he was ordered held on the murder charge. Judge Ronna Beck found substantial probability that Poth stabbed his brother-in-arms, Philip Bushong, near the Marine Barracks in April.

A man shot in July has died of his injuries and his death has been ruled a homicide.
MPD identified the man as 43 year-old Pernell Lonnie Dawkins of Southeast, Washington, DC. In a press release MPD said Dawkins was shot in the 300 block of Ridge Road, SE at about 2:30 a.m. on July 17. He succumbed to his injuries on March 14.
