On Monday Judge Lynn Leibovitz has two scheduled felony arraignments. Derrell Bennett and Reginald Banks are expected to be arraigned each on a charge of first-degree murder while armed, in connection with the death of Keith Banks. Read the indictment here. Read more
Albrecht Muth addressed the court at his preliminary hearing last Friday, claiming that his detention was against Geneva Convention rules and protesting his treatment at D.C. Jail. Claude Kinney was ordered held today pending a preliminary hearing, after Judge Levie found substantial probability to believe that Kinney stabbed his wife on Tuesday, killing her in front of their children.
Charging documents in the case describe Kinney driving up to Alecia Wheeler, throwing her onto his truck, and stabbing her. An MPD officer ran to the crime scene when a child stopped the officer and said, “My Mommy just got stabbed.” Read more
On Monday Alicia Wheeler was in court, filing for an order to protect her from Claude Kinney. She was given a two week order, but on Wednesday she was dead. Kinney, authorities believe, killed her. Read more
A Capitol Heights man found dead in a burning car in Prince George’s County last month is believed to have been killed in D.C. two weeks ago.
MPD, which has taken over the murder investigation, identified the man as 34-year-old Antwain Henderson.
Authorities believe that Henderson was shot and killed in Northeast D.C. early in the morning of Aug. 31. That same day, Prince George’s County Fire Department found Henderson’s body inside of a burning car in Capitol Heights. Read more
Jerome Bailey pleaded guilty today to second-degree murder in the shooting death of Rico Matthews, whom Bailey believed was having a relationship with a woman that he also saw.
By pleading guilty, Bailey faces a sentence of 16 to 20 years imprisonment. Read more
A trial date has been set for March of next year in the case accusing Raymond Roseboro of killing teen Prince Okorie in Petworth in Nov. 2010.
Roseboro, who will be 21 next month, pleaded innocent to a charge of first-degree murder while armed (premeditated) at his arraignment last week. Read more
